HISTORY OF THE CHANEL HOUSE

October 2, 2019

The history of the Chanel house is one of the most famous fashion houses in the world. It was a company whichgave to the world the Chanel No. 5, which sells every 30 seconds in the world.

She owns 147 boutiques and stores around the world. The great Coco Chanel was able to dress all women according to her own taste, which no one managed before. Andit's not surprising that the history of the House of Chanel, as well as the history of its creator, is full of interesting moments.

Gabrielle Chanel made a real revolution in the fashion world, which might not have happened at all if her career as a singer had not been so unpromising.

The great couturier started her way to success from a small stage in an establishment "Rotonde" in Paris. Thanks to such songs as "Ko Ko Ri Ko" she received her nickname for the first time - Coco, which remained with her until the end of her life.

History of Chanel began with the fact that Coco, working as an ordinary clerk in a knitwear store, took an extremely interesting hobby - she created quirky and unusual hats. At that time, few would have guessed that one day these hats would win the hearts of the aristocrats of Paris.

Coco Chanel changed not only the idea of fashion, but also about fashion designers. Before that, fashion designers had been considered service personnel, who should not be allowed in high circles. Thanks to Chanel, fashion designers became an integral member of aristocratic society.

The house of Chanel was one of the first, who began to involve celebrities in the promotion of its products. Movie stars advertised the brand's clothes, many of them for many years became the face of the brand.

To this day, it is an honor to represent Chanel, as well as a guarantee of further multimillion-dollar contracts.

"YOU WON'T GET A SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION."

"I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK OF ME. I DON'T THINK ABOUT YOU AT ALL."

It is considered that Chanel No. 5 fragrance was chosen by the great couturier for a reason. Coco Chanel was quite a superstitious person and believed that the number 5 was her destiny. That's why she chose the fifth fragrance out of all those perfumes that the Russian perfumer Ernest Beaux offered her to choose from.

Chanel #5 was presented to the public on May 5, 1921 and has since been one of the most popular fragrances in the world. The House of Chanel introduced many things into fashion that we consider quite commonplace today. These things include pockets, which previously were simply absent in women's clothing, and bags with long handles, which replaced the radicle.

When Coco's lover Gabriel Arthur Boy Capel died, the great couturier made black fashionable. For a full five years she produced collections of clothes made of black fabrics.

Thanks to Coco Chanel, tanning came into fashion. But, strangely enough, it happened quite by chance. In 1923, Coco appeared at a meeting in Cannes immediately after the end of her sea cruise. The tanned color of her skin was instantly picked up by the public as a new trend.

Great people tend to have their quirks. Coco Chanel had them, too. For example, she practically all her life lived in the Ritz Hotel, one of the most luxurious hotels in Paris.

In addition, the fashion designer suffered from sleepwalking. Rumor has it that during bouts of sleepwalking, she altered hotel gowns and made them into suits. Together with the Chanel brand came into the world pleated skirts, transformer jewelry, the iconic chain handbag instead of the strap, tweed sportswear, two-tone shoes, cotton white dresses and much more.

The one thing that Coco Chanel never used in her collections was pants. She believed that women do not find this part of their closet beautiful.

The fame of Chanel today is so high that no other fashion house can compete with it. The preconditions for this appeared in the early twenties. In 1926, American magazine Vogue compared the popularity of the famous little black dress by Chanel with the popularity of Ford T car.

Later, Time magazine also included Coco in its list of the most influential people in the world. Is it worth noting that she was the only fashion designer to receive such an honor.
